Smoking monolith

An apartment building in my neighbourhood, seen against a winter sky. This was taken using the Nikon FG and Kiron 28mm f/2.0 lens on Efke 25, developed in Rodinal 1+50. I applied some edge sharpening, a vignette, and toning in PS.

Peeling painted pedestal

This is the base of a flagpole at a major public high-school in my neighbourhood. I took this photograph with Efke 25 film from Croatia, an extremely fine-grained (and easy-to-scan) conventional B&W film. Taken this summer near Port Rexton, Nfld. Nikon FG, 24mm f/2.8 lens, orange filter, Ilford FP4 Plus. I am aiming for a more understated style in my PS work — am I succeeding?

Taken August 2006 in Port Rexton, Nfld. For the next several weeks (probably months) I’ll be posting a lot of B&W images (all shot on 35mm Ilford FP4 Plus and HP5 Plus with my Nikon FG and 24mm lens) from our Newfoundland trip this summer. I have a number of rolls to go through and…
